| In order to build a great nation, it is necessary to |
| construct a strong foundation. We, in the School of |
| Communication, are in the process of putting all the |
| bricks into place. If you want to be a part of this great |
| endeavour come and join us. |

| The School of Humanities mainly aims at promoting personal and academic advancement of students through provision of quality education and training. We teach skills required in coping with the demands of the work place thus contributing towards sustainable national development. |

| We believe in providing courses and programmes that are industry specific, career orientated and pertinent to the future in an environment that encourages learning and research both inside and outside the Polytechnic. |

There are four departments in my School: Communication, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, Languages, and Media Technology. All four departments offer both Bachelor and Bachelor honours programmes. |

| The Department of Communication offers a three year Bachelor of Communication programme that is aimed at equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in communication management and administration. Holders of this degree will have communication skills that will enable them to effectively design, manage and evaluate communication processes that involve individuals, groups, organisations and the public. |

| The Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies is the prime provider of applied legal training in Namibia, offering courses and qualifications that are of internationally recognised academic standard. The department offers two Bachelor qualifications in Criminal Justice Policing and Correctional Management to foster an understanding of professional policing, law enforcement and correctional management taking into consideration best practices internationally. The honours caters not only for the wider criminal justice systems in the SADC region, but also encourages in this area.

| The Department of Languages offers Bachelor of English and Bachelor of English honours degree programmes. In addition, the department offers the institutional core which is Language in Practice for all Polytechnic students and credit bearing courses in French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. The Bachelor of English programme unique insofar as it offers both language and literature courses which cater to the needs of the Namibian nation. The honours programme is a one-year post graduate programme with emphasis on research. |

| The Department of Media Technology provides quality education and training to students and communications professionals, by equipping them with journalistic and related technological knowledge and skills, to develop themselves and their communities. The department offers a Bachelor and an honours programme in Journalism and Communication technology to enable students to develop an understanding of how media are organized and operate in society. Both programmes ensure that students acquire the necessary skills to make them best in their profession. |

| The strength of the programmes offered in the School of Humanities lies in the fact that they are up to date and technology driven. Students acquire skills through work integrated learning and exposure to the industry. Students also have an opportunity to do research. |
