  Quality Assurance

Vision
To be a centre of excellence in institutional quality management and quality assurance.

Mission
To enhance the quality of the institution.

Background
The Polytechnic of Namibia recognizes the importance of quality assurance and standards in all its activities as manifested in a dedicated QA Unit.

Quality Assurance activities at the Polytechnic of Namibia date back to its inception when the institution started collaborating with stakeholders through curriculum advisory bodies and partner universities. This was significantly strengthened when the Polytechnic became affiliated to the Certification Council for Technikon Education (SERTEC) in 1999 and subsequently, to the Council of Higher Quality Committee (HEQC, a quality assurance functionary of the Council of Higher Education, South Africa), since October 2003. Partly, the establishment of the QA Unit was in response to a quality audit by the South African’s Higher Education Quality Council (HEQC), 5-6 March 2007:

Values
This Unit therefore believes that quality assurance at the Polytechnic of Namibia is not a choice but a requirement, and thus a culture of quality within the institution should be cultivated and observed at any costs by each and every member. Consequently, in pursuing its activities, the QA Unit believes in the principle of Total Quality Management (TQM) and has adopted the Deming Cycle as an approach to ensure continuous quality enhancement.
