Background
The Polytechnic Cultural Festival started in 1996 with the coming on board of the founding Rector Dr. Tjama Tjivikua. The programme was conceptualized by Ms. Frieda Shimbuli, the first Dean of Students. This programme has grown in leaps and bounds and has become a popular programme on the activities calendar of the Polytechnic of Namibia.

The Polytechnic Cultural Festival is a platform to educate, to entertain and to inform the Namibian society about our cultural heritage. Cultural values rule almost every aspect of our life.

Culture is music. Culture is dancing. Culture is literature and telling stories when you sit around the fire. Culture is poetry. Culture is visual arts. Culture is language. Culture is the way how we behave. Culture our upbringing. Culture is taught. Culture is learned and culture is shared. The Polytechnic of Namibia cultural festival is a melting pot from all the 13 Regions of Namibia.
